Seven Squared wins Customer Magazine of the Year Award

14 May 2008

Seven Squared has won the PPA’s prestigious Customer Magazine of the Year category for asos.com magazine  - the online clothes retailer’s groundbreaking customer title.

Asos.com proved a huge hit with judges at the PPA Awards for editorial and publishing excellence, who praised the title for being “a unique trend setter” with an “extraordinary compulsion to buy”.

Seven Squared beat a host of high-profile titles to the PPA’s top award. Others nominated included Haymarket Network's British Army title Camouflage and Sky Sports magazine, Redwood’s Your M&S and its Land Rover magazine, OneLife, as well as John Brown's Waitrose Food Illustrated  title.

Asos.com magazine has proved a runaway success for the retailer ever since it launched in September 2006. The magazine has boosted sales and basket spend, increased web traffic and helped establish asos.com as a leading fashion authority.

It has also helped acquire new customers through tactical mailings and host insertions with magazines such as LOOK and Company.

Recent ABC figures gave the magazine a circulation of 370,000, the third highest circulating women’s fashion magazine behind Glamour and Cosmopolitan.

Asos chief executive Nick Robertson commented: “Winning this award means a lot to everyone involved in producing the magazine. In 18 months we have established it as a brand in its own right and we have ambitious plans to turn it into the number one women’s fashion magazine in the UK.”

Sean King, Managing Director at Seven Squared, said: “With asos.com magazine we’ve established a stylish, engaging and authoritative title with newsstand values, and this award is a wonderful testament to that achievement.

He added: “The magazine has reinforced the asos.com brand and its position in the market as a fashion authority, whilst helping to acquire new customers, push website traffic and increase basket spend. It’s something we’re immensely proud of.”
