A Journal of Interest, private bank Coutts & Co’s debut magazine produced by Seven Squared, has bagged the agency multiple accolades at the recent CiB Awards 2007 ceremony.
The 54th Communicators in Business Awards, which this year took place at a gala dinner in Newcastle, saw A Journal of Interest win two accolades: Best New Publication and Best Design – Newspaper/News magazine.
The magazine, launched at the end of last year, marks the bank’s publishing debut and is a major move away from the conspicuous consumption-led content of other luxury magazines.
A deliberately understated journal with a high-brow, periodical feel, the magazine mixes customer profiles with features covering such topics as historical figures, fashion and business insight to create a unique publication geared around ideas rather than transient styles.
Sent to each of Coutts 45,000 private banking members annually, A Journal of Interest has managed to break the mould for a financial services customer title while also staying relevant to its customers.
Sean King, Director at Seven Squared, said of the CiB Award win: “We’re absolutely delighted to come away with two awards in what were both very strong categories. We’re immensely proud of A Journal of Interest – it was a fantastic challenge to produce a luxury magazine for an establishment as prestigious as Coutts.
“To be acknowledged in this way is a testament to everyone at the agency and a wonderful reward for all their hard work.”
