Seven seeks Deputy Picture Editor

We are looking for a talented and highly motivated person to join the busy picture desk as deputy picture editor.  You will be keen to work across a broad spectrum of projects and driven to find ways to enhance the department and the work that is produced by it through your creativity, passion, expertise, contacts, efficiency, communication and high standards of quality.
 
Your key responsibilities will be to deputise for the picture editor. To manage ones own projects including the research, commissioning, proofing and budgeting on time and on brand. To commission photographers and illustrators and art direct shoots where necessary. To have a developed and broad contacts book and a strong interest in finding new talent, keeping abreast of trends and to share this information to help drive the visual standards of the projects that we work on.  To be driven and able to keep costs competitive and within budgets. To have strong written and verbal communication with the confidence, capability and knowledge to negotiate the licences and rights required by our clients. To be able to effectively communicate the aspects of the industry that we specialise in. To originate ideas in all aspects of your work. You will at times be client facing and understand and maintain the appropriate qualities expected on these occasions. You will help manage, develop and motivate the team of researchers and photographers with positive encouragement, advice and support. Proactively and efficiently manage the administration of the desk through appropriate delegation and diligence. It must be up to date, centrally organised and accessible at all times.
